Using Energy Efficiency to Re-Imagine Steel Production in India

February 25, 2016

A technology-led development project, begun in 2013, has upscaled energy-efficient interventions in 285 secondary re-rolling mills and four induction furnace units, enabling mitigation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and leading to improvements in productivity through substantial savings in energy costs.

Now, 15 percent of steel produced in the secondary sector (6.2 million tonnes a year) is produced by energy-efficient methods.
